West Coast Beagle Fest - April 14, 2002

This was the Bay Area's first genuinely all-West Coast Beagle Fest. We had John and Martha Foley from Washington State and Raymond and Brenda Crispin from Southern California—along with our usual suspects from the Bay Area, from Elk Grove to San Jose. We had more beagles than ever before, one half beagle (Dodger Foley), and one honorary beagle (Jake Ridenour, a yellow Lab). We gathered at the home of Joe and Elizabeth Kontur in San Jose, where our task for the day was to keep the beagles out of the flowers.

Jake and Zoey were supposed to have a rekindling of their passionate romance, going back to when they were puppies. Alas, they didn't seem to remember each other and ignored each other from the beginning. Later, when Jake approached either of his girls, Zoey or Meg, Casey growled at him, and Jake yielded to this 14-year-old dog who was perhaps a quarter of his size. The romance was never resumed.

The digital pictures that follow are by Wayne Fiori, Meg Azevedo, Dick Goodman, and Mimi Kahn, in order of arrival. Wish you'd been there with your beagles.
