Ricky, forever King of Arooooo!

Carolyn and Wes Morgan live near New Brighton, Pennsylvania. Carolyn enjoys running her own restaurant.

Ricky was, and always will be, the Arooooo! poster child, featured on our T-shirts and the cover of our cookbook. Sadly, at the age of 16 years and nearly five months, Ricky went to the Rainbow Bridge on August 6, 2001. None of us will ever forget him, especially Carolyn and Wes.

Ricky always enjoyed eating, sleeping in the sun, eating, trips to the park, and eating. He'll busy himself doing these things, forever young, until his family joins him. Steffi, the gorgeous Weimaraner pictured above, was suddenly called to the Bridge on September 17, 2003.

And below left is adorable little Chuckie, the pup Carolyn and Wes adopted at the end of 1999. At the right, he's grown up and attending the Beagle Nationals in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, October 2001. Sadly, Chuckie went to the Rainbow Bridge on May 28, 2005.

Rio, Taylor, JT, and Tory share their Plymouth, Minnesota, residence with Denise, who works as a lighting specialist for an electrical distributor and teaches puppy kindergarten, clicker training, and private in-home dog training.

Rio rules the roost, while Taylor is getting pretty pushy. The girls have earned titles in obedience, agility, and tracking. "Puppies" JT and Tory are setting their own records.

Chelsea has been waiting at the Rainbow Bridge since September 1995. For Denise, she was the beagle who started it all, and more about her can be seen on the Web.

Ellen Parr, Beau, Pippi, and Belle

The Parr Pack
From left, Bruce, Beau, Merry, Janie, Belle, Finn, Hillary, Stuart, and Pippi. Lola is on the floor—she couldn't be convinced to sit up on the couch with everyone else. (Bruce, Beau, Belle, and Pippi are beagles; the rest are harriers. Since this picture was taken, Bruce has gone on to a new home.)

Ellen Parr and Doug Flatbush live in Woodburn, Oregon. Ellen is a certified veterinary technician and a dog groomer, while Doug works for Intel. Beau and Pippi, two rescue beagles, started Wynfield Hounds. Things sort of snowballed from there with the addition of Merry, the harrier, and then more harriers and more beagles. Ellen and Doug now raise, train, show, and breed both beagles and harriers.

Ellen does competition obedience, and Doug does agility. They both show the dogs in conformation, and both dabble in tracking. The hounds' favorite activities are eating, sleeping, counter-surfing, and aroooing at the raccoons, squirrels, and feral cats in the back yard.

You can see more pictures of the Wynfield pack on the Web.

Meg Raymond and Miss Bean

Meg and Miss Bean

Above are Miss Bean and her person, one of Arooooo!'s several Megs.

\Miss Bean is the sometimes curmudgeonly Queen Beagle who is fed (and feted) and housed by her loyal subject, the aforementioned Meg. She was adopted from the SPCA in March 1994.

Miss Bean is a lot of beagle in a tiny package—only 15 pounds and about 10-1/2 inches tall. She lived happily with a dachshund named Szabo, but Szabo went to the Rainbow Bridge the night of March 13, 2000.

Miss Bean has a new brother, though—a Jack Russell Terrier named Howie. Below, clockwise from the left, are Howie, Miss Bean, and Szabo. But Howie yearned for a playmate, so Walter has entered his life. Walter, a rat terrier, was adopted from a shelter in May 2001.

Walter, writes Meg, has the cutest long, skinny, freckled legs and an oh-so-sweet face. Counter-surfing is becoming his specialty. He and Howie play and play and play, while Miss Bean usually looks on in disgust.

Egg Zack Lee, called Zack
Zack

Carol and her husband were, until recently, living with Molly (an adorable beagle), Jake (a yellow Lab), and two cats in Redding, California. They're retired and enjoy traveling with the dogs in their camper.

Most recently, Carol decided to try fostering a young male beagle who was found wandering by the side of a road in Mississippi. He arrived in California thanks to Laura Putzke, a few couriers from Arooooo! managed to get him from Oakland Airport to Redding, and all of us knew he'd found his forever home—and he has.

So, at the right, above—Egg Zack Lee Ridenour, called Zack, rapidly becoming a Northern California flyball star.
