Aroo!
The Beagles of Arooooo! and the People Who Love Them

Lisa Amerson, SidneyRoo, and Jack

The Crowder Pack
The Amerson pack

Lisa and her son Noah live in the small town of Madisonville, Texas. Here they share their home with an ever-increasing number of beloved pets. Lisa works in a veterinary clinic, which just encourages her animal indulgences.

Bing, the rat terrier, is the oldest and the original "mama's boy." He's truly a beagle at heart, although he has given up all destructive tendencies to devote his life to pleasing Lisa.

SidneyRoo, the speckled darling, is a happy beagle girl who loves everyone and everything she meets. She adores her kitties and makes a very good kitty-mom.

Jack is a seemingly quiet, solemn fellow. He came to the family through another Aroooooer, Elaine Wright. Lisa met him at her clinic, and they were instantly in love! Since joining the family, Jack has really opened up. He barks at everyone and destroys things when he feels it's appropriate. Now that they have him, they can't imagine how their family was complete without him.

Simon and Free

Simon lives with Jenni, a nurse, in Brisbane, Australia. Simon's reputation often precedes him—his favorite pastimes include opening the fridge door with his nose, spreading the garbage all over the kitchen floor at night, eating the compost, and snacking on any manure put on the garden. Free, short for Inasfree, was a dainty, feminine little beagle whose only vices were "rolling in smells" and eating cat-poo at every opportunity. Free went to the Bridge on April 10, 2004.

Bud
This was Bud

Cotter and Cami live in Frenchs Forest, a suburb of Sydney, Australia.

Cotter and Cami were the first beagles to arrive and start training the resident humans, Maggie and Alan, in the proper care of beagles. It took them more than eight long years to prepare the house for another member of the pack. By March 2003 they were ready to welcome 10-year-old Bud Batemen Bolitho Beagle into their fold. Coincidentally, as Bud was adopted through the rescue arm of the Beagle Club of New South Wales, Bud shared some of Cotter and Cami’s bloodlines from the Casalbeau Kennel, where all the dogs of their generation descended from the champion Churchill.

Between daily walks, swimming in the sea, and dressing up in seasonal costumes, the three beagles gave the humans an advanced course in "How to Manage When the Dogs Outnumber the Humans."

Misty the cat, a 10-year-old adoptee in 2002, simultaneously gave Bud lessons in "Many Reasons to Not Bug the Cat." Bud learned the most important lesson in living with a cat—the dog should not eat from the cat bowl until the cat is finished.

Bud lost his battle with cancer on December 28, 2005. His last days were spent enveloped in love. The last years of his life were how his entire life should have been spent.

Lori and her gang hail from the Garden City of the Great White North, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.

The beags are Cole, Maddie, and Smudge, the baby. The pack has been of varying sizes over the years and, for now, three is a good number.

The two older dogs have their show championships (Cole has his American as well as his Canadian), and all of them excel at being Couch Potato Excellents!

And Bella Rose, the fourth beagle in the picture below, originally from Australia, has moved to a new home in New Hampshire with her longtime long-distance love, Roodi Otterbeagle.

Julie and all of her dogs: the beagles, from the left, are
Homer, Trixie, the late Sophie, and Adam; the greyhound is Rascal;
and the two schipperkes (aka skippypees) are the late Sonny and Squirt

Julie and her pack live in Maryville, Tennessee, where Julie is a groomer. Homer and Trixie are her rescue beagles. Trixie's favorite hobby is stealing food and eating it. Homer sleeps.

Adam is a happy obedience and agility beagle. Rascal, the greyhound, is a retired racer and a very happy addition to the household. Sonny the skippypee is Julie's heartbreaker, and Squirt, the grey-faced skippypee, was Julie's first rescue dog. Sadly, Squirt left for the Bridge on April 27, 2003. There's also Lilibet, whose photo we're still awaiting.

A new skippypee puppy, Chance, joined the pack in October 2004. He seems to have developed a crush on Lilibet.

Julie's favorite hobby is keeping everyone out of trouble, which is a big project.

SnoopyLou (below right) was Julie's first rescue beagle. Julie took her in in 1996, thinking she was around 11 or 12 and would only live a year or so. She wedged her way into Julie's home and heart, and Julie bade a tearful goodbye to her on January 24, 2003. Beautiful Sophie, a retired show beagle, was enjoying her retirement on her favorite piece of furniture, the sofa, until she went to the Bridge in late June 2004.
